The setting for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 may have little to do with the famous madhouse itself. CVG reports that the new issue of PC Zone has an interview with senior gameplay programmer Paul Denning, and his comments shed a little more light on the game. "I think you're probably right in that [Arkham Asylum]'s almost run its course," he said. "Gotham itself is a fantastically realised fictional city and there are so many places that would be probably ideal for gameplay and great to explore."
But, contrary to some speculation, the sequel probably won't open up the entirety of Gotham City, seeing as the key developer feels it's a challenge to make that work. "I think sandbox games that do that well are so hard to realise," said Denning. "GTA is a fantastic example of one that gets it right but there are so many that get it wrong and I think you have to be so careful when you take that route."
